The good fight.

If you are familiar with weapons, you know that there are special and sophisticated weapons used for specific purposes and/or effects. The success of every war can be rated not only by the number of warriors and their strength, but also by the assortment of weapons at their disposal.

A group of army men with assorted rifles, will be much more feared and than those with stones, because it can be said that the rifles would kill faster than the stones. Similarly, when fighting against the flesh, you need to be well equipped for the battle. The battle against the flesh is not menial, so should not be taken casually. It entails a lot of expertise and that is why you need a more sophisticated weapon, if you must win.
However, your victory in a battle will entail you tackling the root cause of it. So, to win against the flesh, you must discover where your greatest temptation lies. For instance, if you have a challenge with fornication, then you should constantly guide against what you see, read, talk about and the kind of friends you keep. If your challenge is with lying, then you must consciously speak the truth to yourself first; that way, it would play out when you’re asked.
Also, you should know that the Word of God and prayers are your strong defense against the day of battle. While you allow God’s Word guide your heart and decisions (Psalm 119:11), you should also engage in prayer warfare against the wiles of the devil (Jude 1:20; Ephesians 6:11-16). You have not resisted that temptation unto blood (Hebrew 12:4); therefore, you must keep fighting the good fight, so that you may obtain victory.
